The University of Idaho Vandals take down the WSU Cougars in their first conference game of the season:
The Vandals opened conference play against the WSU Cougars. The Vandals came out fast and scored their first goal of the game only 2 minutes in. The Cougars responded halfway through the first to tie the game 1-1. The Vandals then put in 2 goals back to back both by Colton Raichl (Junior). The Cougars responded again with a goal at the end of the first quarter to make it 3-2 going into the second quarter.
The Vandals drew two penalties at the beginning of the second quarter and the Cougars scored two quick goals to go up 4-3. The Vandals then responded with 2 quick goals of there own one by Colton Raichl (Junior) and the other by Patrick Tunison (Junior). The Cougars quickly responded to tie the game 5-5. The Vandals then exchanged goals with the Cougars throughout the rest of the first half and went into halftime up 7-6.
The Vandals came out firing in the 2nd half and put up three goals in the 3rd quarter two by Patrick Tunison (Junior) and one by Deric Wilson (Junior). The Vandals shut down the Cougars offense in the 3rd quarter, lead by Craig Patrick’s (Junior) six-save effort and the shut down group of Ryan Erstad (Senior), Austin Volking (Junior), and Nolan Knuth (Junior). The Vandals went into the 4th quarter leading 10-6.
